The Warriors (8-0) scored 11 runs in the first two innings to take control of a road contest against Kealakehe on Thursday, cruising to a 12-2 victory in the run-rule shortened contest.
David Nakamura recorded the win for the Warriors, striking out three while allowing five hits and two earned runs in three innings of work. Casey Yamauchi closed out the contest, allowing one hit and striking out a pair.
Curren Inouye, Jacob Igawa and Nathan Minami did the damage offensively for the Warriors, each registering multiple hits. Inouye packed his stat line, knocking in four runs on his two hits, including a 3-RBI double in the first inning on a deep ball to right field.
The trio also helped key the big second inning. Minami singled, Igawa nailed a double, and Inouye reached on a single. An error by the Waveriders also helped Waiakea’s cause in the six-run stanza.
Kealakehe fell to 2-4 this season, with Tupu Toafili taking the loss on the mound.
Toby Estrella was the only Waverider to manage a pair of hits, also registering an RBI. Hunter Cuaresma had the other RBI for the ‘Riders, which came in the second inning.
It was the second victory Waiakea over Kealakehe in a two-week span. The Warriors won a home contest 15-0 on March 4.
Next up for Waiakea is a road game against Kohala on Saturday. Kealakehe will host Kamehameha on the same day
Honokaa 22, Pahoa 1
Caden Perreira, Canen Perreira and Paki Akau each homered to help the host Dragons snap a four-game losing streak.
Chad Yanagisawa pitched three innings and allowed only two hits for the Honokaa (2-6).
Justin Castro took the loss for the Daggers (0-7).

Nathan Minami hit a grand slam and finished with six RBIs, and Trayden Tamiya collected a two-run double among his two hits to pace the host Warriors in game that was rescheduled after being delayed by weather Saturday.
Makoa Andres pitched four innings of scoreless relief with six strikeouts.
The Dragons scores three runs in the first inning, loading the bases on a walk, a hit batter and a single by Caden Perreira (2 for 4). An error brought in a run and Kelvin Falk’s double plated two more.
Waiakea finally took the lead during six-run fourth that was highlighted by Minami’s slam. Minami and David Nakamura each finished with two hits and leadoff hitter Casey Yamauchi doubled and scored three runs.
Ocean Guerpo-Beamer was the losing pitcher.
